Kopi Butter & Homemade bread @ Lollipop Cafe & Bakery, Sungai Petani, Kedah

Located nearby to the southern Sungai Petani to the toll exit, Lollipop cafe might look nothing spectacular from the exterior and appeared to be another neighbourhood coffee shop that houses some regular hawker stalls. However, withhold your thought or risk missing out another gem in Sungai Petani. The core of this cafe revolves around their homemade breads and pastries, alongside with some interesting choices of coffee.

The stall offers a range of breads with different spreads or fillings. For us, the old school kaya (coconut spread) butter still will drive us to frenzy. Interestingly, the kaya here is made using duck egg, rendering it a very delicate buttery texture.

When both kaya and butter mixed and spread across the fluffy steam bread, it becomes a wonder of the morning. We never regretted of having the Roti Stim Kaya Butter (RM 3.30), though it is slightly pricey than the other competitors.

Meanwhile, those craze about having Polo buns at Hong Kong or Macau can have a taste over their handmade Polo buns as well. It is made to have a crisp exterior and fluffy interior, however we would preferred a more buttery sensation. The Polo Bakwa (RM 5.50) comes with a giant piece of thick bakwa for a total enjoyment for the morning.

The coffee serves here provides a strong kick for those seeking a caffeine boaster. For a more interesting combination, go for their Kopi Add Butter (RM 2.00) which comes with a triggering of salty and buttery sensation on top of the coffee scent. While we certainly enjoyed the Kopi Add Butter, our favorite choice of the day would be still their Kopi C (RM 1.60)
