We believe Middle Eastern cuisine is under appreciated in Malaysian. It never become a sensation nor hit among Malaysians, and most of the time the restaurants offering Middle Eastern cuisine are patronized by people origin there or Malay community. On a random occasion looking for supper spot in Bayan Lepas area, we spotted Hadramount City Arab Food Restaurant at Sunway Tunas and gave it a try. The investment to the gustation was rewarding.Â

In reality, Hadramout refers to the region of the southern end of Arabian Peninsula, and presently sitting within Yemen. The cuisine are generally has big portion, dried and often skewed toward carbohydrate and protein based.
Puzzled by all the dishes' name on the menu, we simply ordered a Shaksokah with Mulawah (RM 12.00). It comes with a dish of eggs poached in sauce of tomatoes and chili peppers in dried form (Shaksokah) and a piece of fried bread (Mulawah). Although the Shaksokah was nicely seasoned, we would have preferred it to be moist, or similar to scrambled egg so we could mop it nicely with the Mulawah.Â
On the other hand, the Mulawah mimics the traditional roti canai we had, though the texture is slightly crisp with a pleasant charred scent. We were caught in surprised by its huge size, and this is best recommended to share between two person.Â
 
Mixed Grill Hadramout City (RM 28.00)Â has a platter of different grilled meat and served along with fries. It comes with their signature yogurt dipping sauce, rendering the mixed grilled a smooth texture once coated with it. We though the grilling is nicely done and the meat is well seasoned.Â
 Arabic Tea with Mint (RM 7) is a must have during dining in Arabic restaurant. The taste is refreshing, cooling and smooth, though try to prevent the sediment in the bottom of the tea cup.
