Chee Cheong Fun @ Genting Cafe, Island Glades, Penang

While many of the best street food in Penang centered in Georgetown area for the ease of public and tourists' accessibility, there are a few exceptions such as Chee Cheong Fun. We regard one of the best Chee Cheong Fun in Penang is concealed within a very popular neighbourhood Kopitiam at Island Glades - Genting Cafe.

This is the only Chee Cheong Fun stall which we have seen a queue lining up. The small portion comes with 2 pieces of rice rolls (RM 2.60) and topped with different sauces and sesame seed.

The reason that excite the taste buds of this plate of Chee Cheong Fun is the presence of buttery taste, apart of the usual black sweet sauce (shrimp paste) and chili paste. Most likely the chef has introduced peanut paste into it. Moreover, the shrimp paste was not overwhelming. It has a nice and balance mixture between the sweet, spicy and buttery taste.

We also tried the fried char hor fun but it was not impressive. Some tuning are required on the taste.

We recalled the days when we still in secondary school, we loved the spicy wantan mee here. Wondering how is the taste now? Any enlightenment?
