With the opening of The Light's Cafe at the renowned waterfront location in Georgetown - Esplanade, the visitors or tourists there finally gets another comfy place to rest their legs or stop by for a cup of coffee. Main courses are served only from 11am to 2:30pm then followed by 6 to 9pm while there are only drinks and desserts during other hours.
We only managed to try their main courses here during our second trip there. In fact, it was not a pleasant experience during our first visit. We arrived there at 2:40pm, then while looking at the menu displayed on the counter, the server hastily snatched the menu and politely explained that only drinks and coffee are available at this hour. Feeling perplexed, Shirleen went to confirm with the server are main courses still available.
However, we reckoned we have got a rather rude reply from the server "why, you are very hungry is it?" Then Shirleen proceeded to explain to the server we were having a late lunch today. Feeling guilty, the server went to check the kitchen and explained to us that the kitchen has been closed. Though damage has done, we decided to return again for a trial on their dishes.
Chicken Parmigiana |
Seafood Linguine |
The Light's Cafe features a menu with very limited selection of main dishes, and the price is slightly on a higher side though acceptable. We had a Chicken Parmigiana (RM 24.50) and Seafood Linguine (RM 24.50).
The chicken parmigiana had two pieces of pan seared tender chicken cutlet topped with torched cheddar cheese, that gives it a salty taste with a hint of nice charred sensation. The dish is served along with potato wedges and fresh garden greens salad, though the potato wedges were too raw for our liking. Overall we enjoyed the chicken much.
Meanwhile, the chef had the pasta in seafood linguine overcooked, rendering the noodles' texture a tad soft. The pasta is served in red sauce with bunch of chili flakes and olive, rendering a very strong and pleasant olive taste. Prawns were big in size though freshness could be improved, while the clams are good and had sprinkles of Pamesan cheese on it.
Hot Matcha Latte (RM 11.50) probably needs some refinement in terms of the Matcha taste.
