The Garden @ Jalan Van Praagh, Jelutong, Penang

The Garden is a family styled restaurant in Penang. They serve a variety of dishes, including Asian, Western and Thai in a relatively affordable price tags in air-conditioned settings. Currently they operate 2 eateries in Penang, one is Jelutong (near Jelutong Friday night market) and another one at Krystal Point, Bayan Baru.

Flipping through their thick menu ain't an easy job as the choices offered are vast. Nevertheless, there are a few items that caught our attention. The dessert - Durian Ice Floss (RM 12.90) was an interesting option. It comes with soft, though not silky ice floss which had decent durian taste imbued within. It is good to satisfy the crave for durian or ice floss, but definitely there are better ice floss out there if you are someone who looks for the premium ones.

The fiery hot Garden Spicy Fried Rice Special (RM 8.90) is recommendable for those who enjoyed something burning as meal. Other than that, the fried rice just marked the checklist of a plate of decent fried rice.

Thai Style Glass Noodle served by Jek Be-Ak restaraunt at Hua Hin has became our benchmark ever since we tried them. Since spotted our favorite dish at The Garden, we ordered it without hesitation. The taste was ok, probably due to an exorbitant benchmark we had but we felt it was overwhelmed with parsley. Overall it was acceptable as it was never prepared by an authentic Thai chef anyway.
