We never thought a simple unleavened flatbread, or better known as Capati can become such a sensation and hit.
At the dynamic neighborhood of Taman Tun Sardon, Gelugor lies a pushcart stall that often swarmed with people when they are operating. That is Sulaiman Capati, selling simple yet delectable staples food - capati and roti jala, alongside with 4 different choices of curries and some home cooked desserts.
Capati with chicken curry |
We enjoyed the well cooked capati much. Mr. Sulaiman's skill in kneading the dough has resulted a soft and puffy capati, with a tad of pleasant char scent. Comb every bit of the capati with the curries and the taste is rewarding.
On the other hand, the set of roti jala (6 pieces) were nice in taste too. The string-like batter bread is fluffy and had a slight moisture contained within. It goes well when combined with any of the curries.
Roti Jala with Sardine Curry |
Sardine Curries |
Daging Cincang Curries |
Of the 3 different curries - Chicken Curry, Daging Cincang Curry and Sardine Curry we had tried, both Shirleen and me unanimously voted Sardine Curry as the best. It should be the usual canned sardine we can get easily from stores but it has been thickened by tomato sauce and spiced up by onions. Perhaps it could go well with roti canai too!
The chicken curry is lovely with its thick curry and aromatic coconut milk fragrance. On the other hand, we felt the daging cincang curry was lacking of the bold taste it supposed to have and slightly diluted for our liking.
Do remember to check out their home cooked dessert for only RM 2 a bowl. The taste is great and the sweetness level is fine tuned to perfectness. We would not mind to have a second bowl, provided our stomach allows.
Sulaiman Capati stall is located outside of Astaka Taman Tun Sardon. They have a big self made banner so it is hard not miss them out if you are within the vicinity.
We then witnessed an exodus of people is swarming the Malay kuih stall too. Bought a few pieces of the cakes to try and it tasted good. Serves well for some sweet ending for the tea break.
