Pizzaiola @ Lot33, Prangin Mall, Penang

Pizzaiola is an Italian restaurant located at Lot 33, the sub-basement of Prangin Mall. Featuring a rustic Italian style design, patrons will be enjoying Italian pizzas and western dishes in a brick castle alike setting, as like being transported back to a medieval age castle decorated with paintings and elegant chandeliers.

The signature of the restaurant will be their 19-inches Pizzaiola Pizza, served with 4 different toppings: Teriyaki Unagi, Spicy Seafood, Beef Pepperoni & BBQ Chicken. This gigantic pizza is specially formulated to have 2 different bases to appease the taste buds of different sides of the tongue: chicken and beef carry the tomato essence while unagi and seafood are catered for spicy lovers. It offers an almost all rounded lingual papillae triggering with the presence of sweet, sour, salty and umami, and of course bitterness is absent!

The pizza toppings can be exchanged for another variant depending on your preference. From our perspective, we recommend Mongolian Cheesy Mango Pizza because of its exquisite homemade sauce mixed with chicken and mango. Alternatively, go for either the irresistible Salmon or Vegetarian Pizza.

Creamy Spaghetti with Salmon
Pizzaiola offers some good deals with their set meal. The set for two has 2 main courses, alongside with 2 mushroom soup, caesar salad, snack platter, 2 Ice Lemon Bubble Shake & 2 dessert of the day, and you only need to pay either RM 39 or RM 58 depending on your main course selection. What a bargain!

We had two different type of spaghetti for the day. The Creamy Spaghetti with Salmon is served with a generous portion of grilled salmon with pasta in mixture of white and tomato sauce, offering a creamy texture. Meanwhile, the rare appearance of unagi is here with their Carbonara Unagi Spaghetti with a sleek sweet taste.

In case you still miss some Asean food in Italian restaurant, then give a shot for Seafood Risotto. Instead of rice in creamy broth, it had Tomyam rice concealed beneath the cheese layer, giving an equilibrium between a tad spiciness with cheesy taste. Interestingly, there is a coconut husk alike layer sandwiched between the cheese and rice, complementing the soft texture by providing some chewiness.

Grilled chicken Kabobs is a must try here. The tender chicken meat is marinated and covered with their special made sauce, packing a robust and pleasant taste.

If you have a plan to have a sweet end and enjoy their Chocolate Lava Cake, remember to order prior the finishing of your meal as it needs 20 minutes for preparation. Serving with a scoop of ice cream, it gives a bliss in every bite when the oozing hot chocolate bumps into the cold ice cream.
