The calm state of Perlis in the most northern part of Penisular Malaysia gets unusual robust during the evening of Ramadan month, especially at its Bazaar Ramadan sites. One of the most frequented Bazaar Ramadan is nearby Bulatan Jubli Emas, or more precisely, directly opposite of Pusat Khidmat Pelanggan TNB Kangar. Various foods are sold here and we can tell there is a difference after been to the Bazaar Ramadan in 4 different states in Malaysia.
As 2017 Ramadan month coincide with the blossoming of the pride of Perlis mangoes - Harum Manis. That is why raw mangoes or mangoes pulut (sticky rice) can be seen across the Bazaar. Just for a head up, a kilogram of Harum Manis in Perlis is usually sold for RM 35.
Then you can see all the common food available in Bazaar Ramadan such as grilled and fried food, cookies and etc, Interestingly, there are salad and also cooking of Thai instant noodles here. Strong Thai influence can be observed across the food here, partly due to the close proximity of Thai borders to Perlis, or perhaps a substantial Thai Muslim community residing in Perlis.
The presentation of the drinks toppings are attractive and indeed it will trigger one to purchase a bottle of it.
That is it. The market ain't big in size if compared to other popular Bazaar Ramadan in the other states but there are more than enough varieties of food to satiate your crave, especially in the moment of breaking fast.
