Hill Street Tai Wah Pork Noodles (Bak Chor Mee) - Michelin 1 Star Food @ Singapore

I still remember how much we enjoyed savouring Tai Wah Pork Noodles, aka Bak Chor Mee during our trip to Singapore. At the same time, we were cursing on the long queue for it. I recalled we waited at least 45 minutes for below dish.

At the moment I am writing post, I found out Tai Wah Pork Noodles have been listed in Singapore Michelin Guide! Our first overseas trial on Michelin Star graded food!

The strength of Bak Chor Mee lies between the serving of al dente noodles and the intricacy between the vinegar, minced pork, pork liver, meat balls and dumplings. A combination of bold and sour taste is unleashed once uptake into mouth, which further aggravated our appetite hungering for more.

During our visit, the Bak Chor Mee were available at a few price range - $5, 6, 8 or 10. We were not sure whether the conferment of Singapore Michelin Star grade would affect the pricing strategy by the owner. However, the queue definitely would have gone longer and do expect a longer waiting time.

Besides, we also witnessed a few Singaporeans take-away packets of it before dinner time, presumably all were meant for family dinner. What a popular choice of meal.

As we were very unlikely to be here for a second times, we took this opportunity to sample their Koay Teow Soup. The silky smooth noodles were served with seaweed, then drowned in a pool of preserved vegetable (冬菜)soup. Still the Bak Chor Mee was more impressive.

Pork Noodles were nothing much spectacular. In fact the usual pleasant porky texture of pork balls were absent.

So if you ask me, if we were given a second treat here, would we come back? Our answer is definitely a yes for the Bak Chor Mee, but would be pleased if someone could take the order in advance for us. An hour waiting time with a growling stomach was torturing.
