Talk Talk Wine Bar & Lounge @ Bangunan Lip Sin, Penang

Tucked away in the fringe of the Georgetown at Bangunan Lip Sin, Taman Pekaka, Talk Talk Wine Bar & Lounge is an unexpected find in this neighbourhood. It offers an excellent venue for a social gathering while indulging in life band performance (the performance artists and date varies, do check out the signboard), savouring awesome Western styled food as well as a retreat for cigars aficionados in Penang.

When we stepped into the lounge, we were greeted with its quaint and rustic design. The space has been split into two floors, effectively lowering the ceiling level for both floors yet presenting a comfortable feeling for patrons. Green steel bars were used to support the second floor, granting a fake impression that pipelines were running across the lounge. Coupled with dark red coloured bricks wall, thin tree trunks and obsolete wooden windows on the contrived second floor, it appears we were sitting in a random back alley.

The mastermind behind these designs are no other than the boss himself, whom is an architect by profession.

The feeling of lingering on the ground and second floor differ greatly. With bar stools and bar stations, the ground floor offers a more stylish and relaxed atmosphere for a casual meeting with friends. Meanwhile on second floor, the comfy couches and dimmed light provided an excellent setting for a slothful evening with bragging and gossiping sessions.

Talk Talk Wine Bar & Lounge offers membership and VIP access. The perks of being a member is that you get access to the private lounge, with minimal sound disturbance and personal space. On top of that, it is a great getaway for cigars aficionados here.

Although Talk Talk Wine Bar & Lounge mainly serves as a place for chill out, they do serve toothsome Western dishes at reasonable price for those seeking for a hunger fix. Somehow, the dishes are served on a more healthy and nutritious way, featuring blanched vegetables on some of it.

The Signature Grilled Salmon (RM 37.90) is nicely grilled, possessing a firm and moist texture. Lightly seasoned with black pepper sauce to let patrons enjoy it original taste, one can add the ginger soy reduction provided for a more salty sensation.

Pan Smeared Smoked Duck Breast (RM 35.90) is nicely sliced to the right thickness, and each slice contain a reasonable portion of fat and lean meat. The smoking was done right to give it a sublime taste. Dip the smoked duck in the orange sauce for a more tangy feeling.

The homemade patty sandwiched between the sesame bread in Pork Bacon Amatriciana Speciale (RM 27.90) is well marinated and succulent. Though Amatricina generally refers to mixture of tomatoes, onions, Pecorino cheese chunky pork as the pasta sauce, in this dish it refers to the layering of these ingredients to make up the burger tower. These ingredients complemented each others well. Fret not for those afraid of the pungent smell of onion as this is not the case here.

Signature Pork Bacon Cabonara (RM 27.90) has a rich creamy taste but surprisingly we were not overwhelmed by it. Topping the cabonara were generous amount of bacon and enoki mushroom to complement the dish.
