Although Jelutong is an area predominantly by the Chinese community, it is strange that vegetarian eateries are scarce within the vicinity. It took me a few rounds to scout for some vegetarian restaurants and by coincident, we managed to find this little corner off Jalan Perak. It is an Indian vegetarian eatery, bearing the name Puspamalar Vegetarian Food Corner.Â
Above picture was what we had for economy rice. The dishes were scrumptious, especially the curries drenching the rice were great. Check out the anchovies analogue, its curries were sweet and spicy, absolutely delighting in taste.
For their vegetarian version of Murtabak, the meat was substituted with fried bean curds cubes. Although curries were provided, the murtabak could be well eaten at its original taste and surprisingly the taste was great.Â
It was a hungry night so we decided to order another Char Hor Fun. Personally, I disdained any char hor fun without egg, especially when the hawker forgotten to include egg into the starchy gravy. However, this plate of eggless char hor fun was amazing in taste, one of the best vegetarian style char hor fun we have tried.Â
The total cost for all the dishes cost us RM 16, including a cup of coffee. Not too expensive nor affordable, it is justifiable in current state of economies.
