The name of Lao Jie Fang must have sound familiar to you, you would have seen their store at Armenian Street in Penang or at the airport, KLIA. They carries wide range of local delights such as biscuits and coffee. This November, they have ventured out and time traveled us to the old times, to our great grand parents generation to enjoy the local style breakfast in the modern environment. Their culinary utensils reminded me when I was still a kid, grandma used to use those bowl to prepare my meal.

Signature Hot Coffee (RM 3.50) |
Cham (RM 3.50) |
Omega Soft Boiled Egg (RM 1.90) |
Butter & Kaya Sponge Toast (RM 4.50) |
We ordered the must-have for the standard Penang's style breakfast, a cup of rich and aromatic coffee, a bowl of healthy omega soft boiled egg and a set of toast bread. We adored their sponge toast, it reminisce bangkali bread, soft at the center with crunch at the edge. They have been very generous applying the butter and kaya spread, every bite felt the oozing spread in our mouth. After a sip of coffee, their Cham is served and we immediately try it. Surprisingly the fragrance of tea was so pungent though the coffee fragrance still lingering in our mouth.
Signature Springy Noodles (RM 9.90), a simple meal to fill your empty stomach with carbohydrate and protein. The noodle was evenly tossed with black soy sauce, not too salty to our liking.
Every table is refilled with banana leaf wrapped nasi lemak. |
