There are numerous times we have passed by Jalan Sri Bahari and noticed this elegant restaurant - Sri Sawadee. We got to know the current Sri Sawadee has underwent a transformation to a Thai Fusion Cafe from a typical Thai restaurant. Well then, in this fast pace F&B industry changes are needed to ensure survival.Ā
For this trip, thanks to Sri Sawadee Thai Fusion Cafe for hosting us.
How does burger fuses well into a Thai menu? The restaurant has creatively introducedĀ Sri Sawadee Crab Cake Burger with Het Tod (RM 18.90), by having crab cake as patty instead of conventional chicken or beef patty.Ā
The whole burger was condensed with cabbages and tomatoes, with mayonnaise are smashed on top of the crab cake, making the wadded crab cake much formidable. Moreover, there are nice mushroom fritters and bunch of salad served on the side. If we were to nitpick, it was the strong onion odour when a particular bite contains a chunk of onion.
Dry Green Curry Chickem Cappelini (RM 18.90)Ā was a special fusion between Thai and Western style, ditching the conventional western style pasta we used to have. Cappelini was a great pick of pasta, as the thin diameter pasta allows the dry green curry to infuse and encapsulate the pasta well, giving arise of aromatic green curry scent with every bite of pasta. Fret not the dish will go dull as the chef has topped the pasta with chicken slices, eggplant and long beans.
On a sudden strike of thought, was wondering how would the dish go if Cappelini is replaced with a finer version of pasta - Angel Hair?Ā
Snow Cod Fish Pad Thai (RM 23.90) is a decent dish to pick. Initially we thought there was only a codfish with soup but the truth was there are a bed of silky smooth Pad Thai lying underneath the codfish. The reason we all loved this dish is due to the elusive soup, with a slight sensation of spiciness, tangy and sweet. On top of that, the essence of the soup hasĀ impregnated and enriching the Pad Thai noodles taste.
Another worthy mention was the large imported codfish with smooth meat, which justified it price well.
Sawadee Seafood Otak with Turmeric Rice (RM 19.90) is like a fusion between Malaysia and Thai dishes. The turmeric rice can be changed to Garlic Toasted Baguette, depending on one taste. There are loads of fresh seafood embedded within the otak-otak. Nevertheless, the taste would have been better if both the turmeric rice and otak-otak have stronger or much impulsive taste.
The presence of a syringe with the cake has immediately caught our attention to pick this Pandan Cheesecake with Gula Melaka Drizzle (RM 15)Ā as dessert. The shot of syringe was in fact dark palm sugar, which added a boast of sweet taste to the cheesecake. Every bite of the pandan cheesecake will provide a smack of rich cheese flavor, and the bottom biscuit crust has done a great job in providing a contrast to the soft cheesecake.
Another pick by Shirleen was Drunk on Love (RM 16), simply because the presence of alcohol (whiskey) in the cake which is unusual. The cake was fine with its chocolaty salted caramel taste albeit the whiskey can only be tasted on and off.
Shirleen has picked Sawadee-cup Drip Coconut Coffee (RM 10.90)Ā and the coffee has a pleasant and rich taste, with a slight scent of coconut. It feels slightly sweet which may mask the original coffee taste, nevertheless diluting it with water provided is a good solution for this.
Trista's choice was a cup of hot Pandan Lemongrass Juice (RM 5.90). We did not have the opportunity to take a sip of it but it should taste rather pleasant and cooling from the rich aroma reaching our nostril.
Jazz picked Ribena Soda (RM 6.90) while I picked Sri Sawadee Virgin Mojito (RM12.90). Virgin Mojito is actually a cocktail that consists of 5 ingredients, which are white rum, sugar, lime juice, sparkling water and mint. It tasted cooling and great, especially in such hot weather. Meanwhile, we did not have the chance to taste Jazz's Ribena Soda.
