[TAIPEI 台北] Day 7:Shop and eat at Ximending 第七天：西门町逛街和美食

Known as the "Harajuku of Taipei" and "Shibuya of Taipei", Ximending has been listed as one of the must go place in Taipei. It is famed as a centre of fashion, food and entertainment that allure large number of visitors from both local and international. Walking around in Ximending is not a big hindrance as the it has been gazetted as a pedestrian zone, and the only stumbling block would be the crowd of people.

西门町有着“台北原宿”和"台北渋谷“的美称，也被列为来台北一定要去的地方。他聚集了时装，餐厅和娱乐，所以吸引了很多外国游客和到地人前来。要在西门町游走不是问题，因为备有人行道，但这地方人潮汹涌。

To get to Ximending, take MRT blue line to Ximen station and get out from exit 6.

小贴士：乘南港线捷运到西门町站，然后从第六出口出站。

Ximending opens 11:00am in the morning and closes at 11:00pm at night. However we feel the environment only get spiced up at night, contributed by the colourful lighting.

西门町的店铺大概早上11点营业到晚上11点，但我们觉得气氛还是在晚上会更加的热闹，当然也有靠五彩兵分的灯饰效果。

The name Ay-Chung Mian Xian (flour rice noodles) has long lingered in our brain prior coming to Taiwan. It was deemed as one of the best mian xian in Taiwan, to the extent that no tables are needed while people could just stand and saviour the mian xian in front of the shop.

还没来到台湾之前，阿宗面线的大名已经记在我们的脑海里了。好像来到台湾，没吃到的话算是没来过一样。我们是不信啦，但他们有着台湾最好吃的面线称号，我们当然要尝尝看啦。哇！店前排满人，而店里店外都没有座椅，所以每人都是站着享受面线。

How could we missed such a delicate since we were here? We joined in the queue and the queue moves pretty fast actually. During our short instance there, the queue never disperse as more and more people keep joining just to savour a bowl of mian xian.

都来到了，好吧排就排！阿宗的员工很有效率，一下子我们就拿到我们的面线了。直到到我们吃完，人潮都没停过，厉害！

 A small bowl of mian xian is 50 NTD while a big bowl is 65 NTD. The mian xian soup was heavily seasoned with pepper and pork intestines were added but then it is not something that will excite us and make us go back for a second bowl.

一小碗面线要价50新台币，而大碗的65新台币。面线汤调得很重口味，尤其是胡椒味，里面只有猪肠和面线而已。我们个人觉得没那么震撼啦。

Various condiments such as chilli and vinegar are prepared at the corner at your e expense. We prefer the version after lots of chilli added.

他们提供很多种酱料，比如辣椒和醋，放在店前让客人任拿。我们比较喜欢加多多辣椒。

Next we headed to Sushi Express to get something to fill our stomach. Though it may sounds illogical to take Japanese food in Taiwan but Japanese food is popular at Ximending, judged by the abundance of Japanese eateries here.

过后，我们就前往争鲜找米吃。你会不会觉得来台湾干嘛吃日本料理呀？但日本料理在西门町很受欢迎，因为有很多日本料理店。

Good thing about Sushi Express is every plate comes in a standard prize - 30 NTD. Although the shop is spacious but it was full, thus we got to wait for a while before get seated. Sushi is served on the conveyor belt or some hand rolls can be ordered to the servers. Tea is provided complimentary.

我们喜欢争鲜的寿司每盘都份量充实，一律30新台币。虽然店面很大，但还是客满，我们得等会儿才有座位。玲琅满目的寿司在输送带上跑着，看到我们想一直拿来吃。可是，我们得控制不可以在一个地方吃得太饱。菜单上还有手卷，可以跟师傅加点。绿茶免费让你冲。

We spent 270 NTD for 9 different types of sushi. Overall the experience and food were okay. Well worth the money spent.

我们花费了270新台币吃了9中寿司。终结来讲食物蛮不错的，物有所值。

This shop at the entrance of Ximending has caught out attention earlier on as there was a long queue waiting for it. Must be something good again huh. We passed by here at 10:40 and there was still a queue though shorter.

这家1973继光香香鸡在西门町路口，在我们走入西门町就很吸睛。十点四十分经过时，还是看到很多人排队买，虽然比起较早时队短了些。

There were only a few options available - fried chicken (60 NTD), fried cuttle fish (65 NTD) and fried abalone mushrooms (65 NTD). We went for the fried chicken and fried cuttlefish.

选择不多，香香炸鸡（60新台币），鲜炸鱿鱼（65新台币）和蒜炸杏鲍菇（65新台币）。我们点了炸鸡和鱿鱼。

The fried chicken come in small pieces, something alike chicken popcorn but with presence of bones. It was well seasoned with the chilli powder. The quantity of chicken and cuttlefish given was a lot, and if we to bring them into cinema definitely it will be an enjoyment!

炸鸡，炸成小片小片，有点像鸡丁爆米花，但可惜没去骨，后再撒上很多辣椒粉。炸鸡和炸鱿鱼的份量超多的，如果拿进戏院，一边看戏一边吃肯定很爽！

Since most of the Ximending shops only operate till 11pm, what if the stomach is growling at midnight. Fret not, let us guide you through what to eat after 11pm at Ximending.

西门町的店多数开到十一点而已，那么住在西门町，半夜肚子饿怎么办呢？就接下来看看我们半夜吃什么吧。

Wang Ji Rice Dumpling would be a decent choice for a heavy supper. There are various dumplings being offered and we went for the most basic and tasty ones - pork rice dumpling.

王记府城肉粽会是一个重量级宵夜。他们有很多粽子选择，但我们还是选最原始的-猪肉粽。

A meat dumpling cost 60 NTD and it was special in a sense that peanuts were embedded within the dumplings. It was well doused with sweet sauce which ain't sweet at all and serve the purpose to wet it only. 

一颗肉粽60新台币，很特别因为糯米里还有花生，再淋上甜酱，不会太甜，还让肉粽吃起来有些湿感。

Otherwise, MacDonalds always be there 24 hours. The menu here is slightly different from Malaysia, notable the Italian style green sauce chicken thigh burger and French style beef mushroom burger.

要不然，可以考虑麦当劳，二十四小时营业。菜单也有别于马来西亚，我们尝了法式覃菇牛肉堡和意式青酱鸡肉堡。

Chicken burger is good. It is special in a way that we like it.

意式青酱鸡肉堡特别的来我们蛮喜欢的。

Clothes are never scarce here. The only scarce thing is money.

衣服店铺多得是，只怕口袋没钱而已。

The Redhouse at Ximending is located at the exit of Ximen station. It is Taiwan first public market and historical site, now transformed to cultural art exhibition centre and a market for designers and artists。

西门红楼就在西门站出口不远，是台灣第一座官方兴建的公营市场，现在已变成文创艺术场所及展演空间了。
