[HUALIEN 花莲] Day 7: Hualien Golden Triangle must try food 第七天：花莲金三角美食

The city located at the Eastern side of Taiwan - Hualien is blessed with abundance of local delights. It is not hard to maneuver around Hualien city to locate the renowned eatery as most of them are located within a triangle, known as Hualien Golden Triangle, encompassing Zhongshan Road, Zhongzheng Road and Zhonghua Road.

花莲市就坐落在台湾的东边，藏着很多不容错过的美食。在花莲市找吃的其实并不难，因为他们都聚集在三角洲里，叫做花莲金商角商圈 ，由中山路，中正路和中华路组成。

Though travelling by foot around Hualien Golden Triangle is permissible but it is not recommended. The area appears to be small but in fact it could be time consuming if by walking around. Moreover, the scorching sun or torrential train may cause difficulty in walking around. As for us, we opted to explore around by bicycle provided by Happy House+ Homestay.

虽然用走路的形似探索花莲市是可行的，但我们不建议。地方看起来是小没错，但走起来顶费时的，更别说如果那时的天气实在炎热的下午，那会更幸苦了。我们呢，当然是好好的利用可乐民宿的免费自行车啦。

In fact, the Hualien Golden Triangle is not limited to food only but it may turn out to be a shopping heaven!

There were too much local delights to savour at the city of Hualien till we stuffed our stomach to the maximum and regretted for not spending another day at Hualien, which we could have utilised and visited Taroko National Park as well. That is why both of us really disliked hectic schedule but we just have to carry on with the existing plan. Thus upon food preying at Zi Qiang night market, we cycled like madness to the town.

讲真的，花莲美食太多了。我们拼命塞到肚子超涨的，好后悔没有在花莲待上两晚，不然还可以到太鲁阁国家公园去。我们其实并不喜欢旅游的行程那么赶，所以就选择悠闲的找吃的就好。
疯狂的在自强夜市吃了后，我们就像疯子一样快速的骑到市中心去。

We were left with no choice but to take away this Heart Tapioca Ball (50 NTD) as the shop was closing. This dessert best eaten at the shop because the silky smooth cooling shaved ice with jelly actually comes with separate bowl of warm tapioca balls. The warm and cold sensation appear to contradict each other initially but once you stuff them in the mouth, it complemented each other well.

赶到正宗包心粉圆店时，老板正准备打烊。还好，老板很贴心的为我们打包一包包心粉圆（50新台币）。享受包心粉圆最好是在店里吃，因为那雪滑的焦糖炼乳冰上会伴着另一碗温温的包心粉圆，当然卖相也更漂亮。冷热的刺激口感，加上那清甜口味，绝佳。

The shaved ice was not plain in taste as it was coalesced with caramel, giving it a punch of sweet taste in every scoop of it but not overwhelming. As we take away the dessert, we have to stand by the roadside to savour it by manually adding one piece of tapioca ball to every scoop of the shaved ice. It was an entire different experience then! 

那雪冰被淋上焦糖和炼乳，清甜得来，还有奶香得来让每一口冰吃起来会上瘾。因为我们打包的关系，我们只好在对面打烊的店前，站着享受这甜点，还要自己把温温的粉圆一粒一粒的加进每汤匙的冰。太特别的经验呀！

We then ventured into this Justice Bao (Bun) shop at about 12:30am. It was about to close then and no more buns for us! Thus we ordered fresh milk tea and red soybean tea (total 65 NTD) and told the boss we would come back tomorrow morning for the buns. Fresh milk tea was very milky while we never come across red soybean tea prior this. The tea scent has masked the soybean and we barely could taste the presence of the soybean.

半夜十二点半，我们继续找小笼包，公正包子已经打烊了，没有包子了！我们只好点杯鲜奶茶和红茶豆浆（总共65新台币），还告诉老板我们明天一早会再来呢。鲜奶茶很乳味，而红茶豆浆我们可是第一次喝，但茶香好像有点覆盖了豆奶味。

We came back next morning for the xiao long bao (5 NTD) each and sui jiao (30 NTD for 10). Nothing to excite about the xiao long bao while the fried sui jiao was doing ok.

没错！第二天早，我们遵守诺言的跑回来公正包子店，尝他们家的小笼包（一颗5新台币）和水饺（10颗30新台币）。小笼包就普普通通，而水饺就还行，味道和马来西亚的不太一样。

Look at the tower of steamed bun in preparation and the stacking of buns. No jokes! How many people would it take to finish all the buns here? The business must be overwhelming.

看看那像101大厦高的蒸笼，员工正蒸着包子。开玩笑的是吗？这是要几个人来吃完这些包子呀？生意肯定是好到不得了。

The neighbouring shop - Zhou Family bun appears to be a popular spot for supper as well. During the short time we were there standing to finish the red soybean tea and fresh milk tea, what we observed was people keep moving into the shop. Our stomach was full then otherwise we could have ticked it from our list.

公正隔壁的周家包子，看起来也很受欢迎。我们半夜站着享受我们的鲜奶茶和红茶豆浆时，观察到他们的生意客似运来。那时我们太饱了，可惜没机会尝试。

We cycled into an alley from Zhonghua Road to locate this "Red tea at temple entrance". It was named such a way as the shop was directly located opposite a temple. What an easy and catchy name. The iconic temple opposite the eatery makes it easy to locate it. 

我们从中华路骑自行车到一条小巷来找这家庙口红茶。名字取自店的地点就在城隍庙对面，店名太顺口了。

Sit down and take a chit of order sheet and place your order. Their serving speed is pretty fast and the concern should be on getting a place to sit.

找个座位坐下后，拿张点菜单填上。他们的服务速度顶快的，问题是在于找空位坐难而已。

We immediately fall in love with their signature red tea (15 NTD). Though we ordered the cold version due to sweating after cycling, the red tea smell could still be vividly tasted. We should have ordered a big one to quench our thirst instead.

第一口尝了他们的招牌红茶（15新台币）就爱上了。骑自行车太热了，我们点了冰红茶来降暑。我们应该点大杯的，味道太香太清甜太凉爽了。

The bacon egg cake (30 NTD) comes with soft skin wrapping the bacon and egg. Dipping it into the soy sauce enhanced the taste greatly, and few pieces was just enough to cover the lining of our stomach.

培根蛋饼（30新台币）的皮又软又薄，把培根和蛋包起来，再点些酱油来提升它的美味。几片的份量刚刚好贴我们的肚皮。

The peanut soup (30 NTD) is slanted toward the salty side. Okay for us even though the conventional we had used to be sweet.

花生汤（30新台币）比较偏向咸的，还蛮不错的，虽然我们马来西亚的版本是甜的。

We strongly recommend this Bubble Ice Store at Zhonghua road. It is by far one of the best shaved ice we have ever tried. Shaved ice could be a very challenging dessert as the smoothness of shaved ice, quality of the ingredients, it condiments and appearance will mark the difference of the shaved ice. The shaved ice here just hit the bullseye of all the above!

我们强力推荐这家中华路的一心泡泡冰。这是我们吃过最棒的冰沙。冰沙甜点其实很具挑战性，因为冰的沙感要拿捏的好，要滑的来依然是冰沙，食材又要好。一心的甜点美感和质感十足。

We went for mango milk shaved ice (150 NTD) and were totally impressed by it. The size of the serving was big and 2 of us could barely finish it. All the shaved ice were covered by a lot of mango cubes till we barely could see the presence of shaved ice. The mangoes were naturally sweet and best of the quality. As the milk ice run through the mangoes it even furthered enhanced the taste. 

超爱芒果的我们当然点了芒果冰沙（150新台币）咯！单看那山高的冰沙就够震撼了吧? 我们两个人要吃完都很挑战呢。冰沙完全被芒果和芒果酱覆盖，而芒果很甜，又熟的刚刚好。怎么影影约约觉得冰沙好想有奶香味耶？！

Not to missed out the shaved ice quality. It was perfectly smooth and in the shape of snowflakes, having possessed no ice crystals at all. It could just melt the moment when we put them into the mouth. However due to rushing time, both of us tried to finish this dessert as soon as possible and that even took us 20 minutes!

冰沙滑的像雪花冰了，没有任何硬硬的沙粒，进口即化。我们因赶时间的关系，被逼在20分钟内把冰沙吃完，无法好好的享受冰沙来度过炎热的下午。

Hualien is well known for bian shi, which is another name to address wonton in northern states of China. There are many eateries offering bian shi in Hualien and we simply follow the recommendation from the lady at our homestay, went to Hualien Xiang.

花莲也出名扁食，是中国北方的人叫法，其实扁食就是云吞来。花莲有很多家扁食点，我们就随便的去民宿女主人推荐的花莲香的扁食抄手试试。

We ordered a mix wonton soup (85 NTD). The wonton is slightly larger in size and wrapped with a thin skin. The soup was nice as well. 

我们点了综合扁食汤（85新台币），扁食很大一颗，用了很薄的皮来包肉馅，汤也很好喝。

We also ordered meat dumplings (85 NTD) , which the name was red oil fries hand. The dumpling was immersed in a bed of long bean sprouts to the extent that we mistaken it as noodles. Vinegar and chilli oil were added to spice it up. There were options to add noodles with the dumplings which make it a proper meal to satiate the hunger. 

我们也点了抄手（85新台币），有些人称它为红油抄手。扁食漂亮的叠在豆芽上，豆芽长到我们误以为是面条。还有添加了醋还有辣椒油来调味。如果你想有些淀粉来充饥，可以选择抄手加面哦。

The noodles seemed special and tea is provided complimentary. One great thing I realised in Taiwan eatery is that drinks are not compulsory and some may even offer it complimentary.

老板还很贴心的提供免费奶茶给客人喝。这趟台湾之旅发现到卖食物的店和马来西亚店不一样，卖食物的店没一定要卖饮料的，很多更是提供免费饮料。很棒！

This marks an end to our food journey an Hualien. We missed to try the famous yellow or blue truck fried onion pancake due to limited time. Other than that, Hualien is a city which offers you a variety of souvenirs to be brought back which we will make a summary on another post.

到这里已是我们花莲找吃旅程的尾声了，很可惜我们错过了那出名的黄/蓝车炸蛋葱油饼。除了可以当场吃的食物，花莲市还有很好的-让你带回家乡震撼你朋友的伴手礼。我们会弄上另外一个简写篇分享。
