16 Degree Cigar, Wine & Bistro @ Gurney Paragon, Penang

We used to pass by 16 Degree restaurant at the lower ground of Gurney Paragon, and often fascinated by its arrays of wine display on the shelf. Wondering how will be the feeling sipping a glass of wine in such nicely decorated restaurant. On a random occasion, we happened to see 16 Degree doing a promotion for its food in Groupon. Without much hesitation, we bought the pizza set for 2.

Initially we thought of order a glass of house wine for tasting purposes but we were put off the the inimical waitress whom begrudgingly place our booking. The expectation of coming here dropped to the canyon after that. Fortunately, our experience there during the dine in day was acceptable.

Upon handing server the groupon vouchers, we were politely guided to our seat and asked for our choices of pizza between seafood, Hawaii and special. We opted for Special Pizza and we were served an Italian style thin crust pizza. The pizza nevertheless lacking of the robust cheesy taste, the thin crust was over crunchy and the toppings could hardly be tasted. It turned out to be a dish to provide a working platform for the hydrochloric acid in our stomach. I think their core business focus is wine, thus the food quality is compromised.

The pizza set is complemented with a basket of French fries and fried fish rings. We were thinking are not these supposed to be served as appetizers instead of desserts? Our stomachs were bloated after finishing all the appetizers as there were a great quantity of French fries.
