Next to Wen Kai Primary School, there is a small market next to it named Astaka Batu Maung. This place is frequent visited by those working around Batu Maung area. I am a great fans of Shaik Nasi Kandar Pantai Remis, not only it is cheap but the sauce is heavenly appetizing.
My friends and I always introduce to people that this place having very good hokkien mee. However after we arrived Astaka and smelled Shaik's curry, we ended up queuing their nasi kandar instead of hokkien mee. Please do not get me wrong that the hokkien mee here was not great enough. Just that we have soft spot for Shaik's curry and sweet onion.

The choices of dishes here is quite limited but sufficient to make a complete plate of nasi kandar. I never missed their special fried onion chicken, then sided with vegetables and egg. They will then glazed the rice with all types of curry, then give us a spoonful of their special sweet onion. It is a sinful dish yet satiating.Â

Aunty's hokkien mee came with thick shrimp broth. I have tried hokkien loh mee on separate visit but I do prefer hokkien mee more. Sprinkle of fried onion has beautifully heighten the taste.
