Birthday Mee is one of the nyonya food which famous in Penang. It wasn't as popular as Char Koay Teow and Laksa where you will find it in any coffee shop, however a great plate of birthday mee is never easy to find. Some called birthday mee as lam mee, just because the way it is prepared by dousing the noodle with plain broth. It is usually prepared for birthday boy or girls in the wish for longevity. While I was doing research about Ah Lim Birthday Mee online, I only found out from his Facebook page that they have been serving the neighborhood since year 2001, with so much of passion.

Mixture of noodle and mee hun, garnished with fried onion, reddish colored fried egg, bean sprout and a little bit of coriander. 3 pieces of striking orange color prawns laying on top being the focus, I was hoping the prawns were deveined though. Not only the plain broth thick and sapid, the splendid addition of minced pork has added extra marks. You could add in the given sambal and blend them with the soup, but I would prefer to keep it the original way where I can savor the richness of the soup. By the way, this plate cost for RM 4.
Free pineapple given by birthday mee's uncle. I think probably because I have keep staring at uncle with my esurient face while he was cutting pineapple, thus he shared it with us.
