Fresh Unique Seafood Restaurant (The Elite Seafood Restaurant) @ Seksyen 13, Petaling Jaya, Selangor

Unique Seafood Restaurant, owned by Unique Seafood Group of Restaurants is a true heaven for seafood enthusiasts. The name Unique Seafood derived from the various exotic seafood it offers, such as Alaskan Spider Crab, Canadian Geoducks clams, French turbots, Australian Snow Crabs, lobsters, abalone and etc. Currently they are operating a few branches in Malaysia with majority residing in Klang Valley, and the only exception at Ipoh.

We had our lunch at Section 13 Petaling Jaya branch, and it was a refurbishment of the previously renowned Ah Yat Seafood Restaurant.

It was a business meal for this luxurious lunch thus I had little idea on the dishes' name. Nevertheless why mind on the name when the food taste good?

The food feast kicks off with braised shark fin's soup with crab meat. Honestly speaking, I was not sure whether real shark fins are involved in the processing as there was contradicting statement from my colleague and the server. If real shark fins were involved, I would have scrapped off this particular dish.

Then it comes the appetizer - Glorious Four Combination Platter with yam ring, pepper sausage, chicken and fried prawn balls. The fried prawn balls was served in half cut dragon fruits, with the pink sauce just complement it nicely. If I were to nip pick, the pepper actually overkilled the sausage taste and does not mixed well.

The most unforgettable deluxe dish - braised abalone with tofu, mushrooms and broccoli. The tofu was silky smooth till it could virtually flow through your tongue, hence do exercise extra cautious when lifting it from the plate else you may end up with tofu mashes instead. The gilded abalone resembles Chinese sycee (元宝) structure, signifying its grand status and indulging it was truly a lavish. The abalone was chewy and had no funny rancid taste, indeed an opulent dish.

Steamed King Grouper Fish in Slices was something less sinful to savour. The sesame oil sauce was just nice in taste and complement the smooth meat well. Served in slices, it makes the eating less problematic.

The salted egg yolk blended nicely with the soft shell crabs, making this plate of salted egg soft shell crabs enjoyable. I believe the frying was nicely calibrated so the soft shell crab maintained its adequate level of crispiness for enjoyment, yet was not oily to cause the bad oily sensation in the mouth.

Roasted chicken was served on time to provide a balance after the deep fried soft shell crabs. The paper thin roasted chicken skin was nicely roasted, and its crispiness was simply irresistible. Chicken meat was tender, and dip it to the plum powder provided if you are a heavy taster.

Do not underestimate the fried hokkien noodles with seafood was the chef has imparted a decent wok hei and nice flavor to the noodles. Though I was pretty full by the time the noodles was served, I still simply could not resist it and almost finish the noodles.

After such a fulfilling dinner, black sesame ball coated with blanched peanut flakes indeed come on time to put an end for the lunch feast. The sasame was overloaded in the ball till it could leak out on your first bite, which tempted me to ignore the calories load and go ahead for a second ones.

It ended with a bowl of longan soup, thought it was over dulcified for me.

The restaurant itself can house an enormous number of guest hence no worries on the sitting. There are stacks of fish tanks on the right side of the restaurant, offering a great variety of seafood of your choice. One could pick the seafood from there as well.

This is my second visit here and I have to say the seafood has been very fresh and consistent in terms of taste. Price was it was a little bit on a higher side, as the total lunch feast we had was RM1200++ as I know.
