Menya Miyabi has been rooted in Penang for around 1 year. It is the first outlet they extend outside Japan. It is our pleasure that they choose Malaysia, especially Penang. To be frank, we had been passing by this restaurant a number of times, but we were not intrigued by the ramen in the menu. Partly due to the high price, also we never had a great miso ramen before. Out of a number of recommendation from friend and colleagues, we decided to give it a try. It turned out to be so scrumptious that we keep going back. The table settings is very simple, means to cater a small group of patron to enjoy a quick meal.
Yaki-Miso Ramen (RM 23.50) certainly our favourite. Although the food presentation wasn't impressive enough, but we were awed by the bold flavour coming from the fried soybean scent out of the broth. Al-dente noodle came with the precious marinated egg with running egg yolk. The egg was heavenly great that we always keep it at last to savour. Anyway, you can always order extra marinated egg for RM 4.50.
As you trying to bottom up the broth, you will find it getting saltier comparing to your first sip. Just raise up your hand can call for extra soup. Complimentary white soup will be provided for you to add on for milder flavour.Â
Yaki Ramen (RM 22), came with roasted pork and scramble egg. Roasted pork was cold when it is served. However, we thought they scored well on the fried ramen. The ramen was stir fried with carrot, cabbage and lotsa yellow onion, along with soy sauce and their special spice. Then, sprinkled with shallot leaf for more crunchy biting pleasure.
Piri Kara Tantan Men (RM 24), again we enjoy their chewy noodle. However, the hot and spicy broth was just mediocre. It came with spicy minced pork and their heavenly egg with running yolk. This time, we have full egg.
