Penang's Koay Kak is very different from Sarawak or Hong Kong. We add in plentiful of dark soya sauce so please don't be surprised to find our koay kak dark in colour. Â Char Koay Kak/Fried Radish Cake is easy to find in Penang. However, a spectacular one is difficult to find especially at the South part of Penang. Weekend and public holidays have been a joy for us not only because we don't have to work, but also able to enjoy a plate of piping hot koay kak from this stall. Why only weekend? Because they don't sell on weekday as they have their primary job to take care. Apart from that, it usually takes us about half hour to queue for.
Bad koay kak always came with either slack of wok hei, or the dark soy sauce doesn't blend well with the koay kak. This won't happen at this stall. Ample of fresh bean sprout, garlic chives and salted radish are added to the koay kak, then allow the egg to set slightly before flipping them over.Â
