Shinwa Ramen quickly caught a lot of attention with its zen Japanese-inspired decor since their launch in year 2024. The cozy dining seating, especially the little garden with a koi pond at the center of the bungalow, quickly transporting you to Japan. That makes you wanting to stay longer, enjoying the Japanese dishes here.
They started out with strong ramen focus identity, but this year they have rebranded themself to Shinwa Kyoto Sushi and Tonkotsu Ramen, brings together ramen and sushi under one roof, offering more options for Penang's Japanese food lovers.
Thank you Shinwa Kyoto Sushi & Tonkotsu Ramen for hosting us.

If raw season isn't your types, go for their aburi sushi. We had the Aburi Cheese Ebi Roll, it combines ebi with a cheesy topping that is lightly torched for that appealing aburi aroma with slightly smoky finish. A little salty cheesy flavours with the fresh sweet touch from the prawn. It feels great to enjoy something beyond ramen when dining here.
If you want something lighter and fresher addition to the meal, get the Salmon Avocado Salad that pair with salmon and creamy avocado. It works as a refreshing contrast to the richer ramen too.

A comforting bowl of ramen never gets owl, especially we are dining with kids. They would always call for the ramen and the onsen egg. Their Kumamoto Ramen (RM 26) is particularly stand out, it comes with thick cut of pork belly chashu, while the braised nonkotsu is flavourful and its so soft that teared off in one bite. It finished with black garlic oil, giving the broth a deeper and aromatic profile.
Our second bowl of ramen went for the classic, Chashu Ramen (RM 26) featuring their low-temperature hand rolled pork belly chashu, paired with the ramen noodles in a savoury tonkotsu-style broth.
