Big Bad Wolf Books is set to return to Penang this Chinese New Year with one of its most anticipated editions yet, marking its sixth return to the state and kicking off early 2026 with a major cultural and retail highlight for Penangites.
Taking place from 26 February to 8 March 2026 at Level 4, Gurney Paragon Mall, the 11-day Big Bad Wolf Book Sale will run daily from 10:00am to 10:00pm, offering readers of all ages access to millions of books at highly affordable prices as part of its ongoing literacy-driven mission.
Held during the Chinese New Year festive period, the return of Big Bad Wolf Books adds a meaningful dimension to the season of renewal — bringing families, students, and book lovers together to celebrate prosperity not just through tradition, but through knowledge and reading.
A Festive Return That Penang Has Come to Expect
Big Bad Wolf Books returns to Penang for the sixth time, reaffirming the state’s continued support for accessible reading and literacy-driven initiatives. The consistent response from the Penang reading community over the years has made the state a key destination in Big Bad Wolf Books’ nationwide city-to-city journey.
The Penang 2026 edition also marks the second stop in Big Bad Wolf Books’ national tour this year, following its opening chapter in Kuantan — reinforcing the organization's long-term commitment to bringing books beyond a once-off experience and into communities that continue to respond.
Chinese New Year Launch with Lion Dance & Lou Sang
The official launch on 26 February 2026 will be officiated by Wong Hon Wai, Penang State Executive
Councillor for Tourism and Creative Economy.
In conjunction with Chinese New Year celebrations, the launch ceremony will feature a traditional lion dance performance and Lou Sang ceremony, symbolizing prosperity, unity, and shared abundance — extending the festive spirit to the public as the sale opens its doors.
