CAN by Haru Hari @ Lebuh Gelugor, Penang

CAN by Haru Hari is the latest hottest cafe in Penang in 2021. Located in Ghee Hiang Garden in Lebuh Gelugor, the cafe offers a natural vibe with a small garden and a glasshouse alike cafe interior. CAN by Haru Hari offers a small menu with slightly more than 10 selections of food, and a few options of cakes which you have to enquiry at the counter. Since its inception, the cafe is full house almost every time, and good luck in getting a seat if you come here without booking.

The most intriguing item on the menu ought to be The Bird Nest (RM 25). Its name must be derived from the presentation of the dish, as deep fried potatoes & leek resembles the wood sticks or dried leaves in bird nest, and there is a half-boiled egg in the center. To enjoy the dish, you have to crack the egg and mix it evenly with the katsuobushi, along with the veggie pancake at the bottom. It is a dish with an unique taste and presentation we would say, and worthy trying for the refreshing taste.

We also tried their Char-Grilled Chicken (RM 18), which is a decent choice. The chicken thigh still retained its moist and tenderness, rendering the dining experience enjoyable. You have the options to choose bbq, black pepper or brown sauce. 

Cakes selections are not offered to the menu but you can enquiry the options available at the counter. There were burnt cheese cake, matcha cake, tiramisu, chocolate ganache and a few more available during our visit. The cakes here are slightly pricier than usual, with RM 16 for the chocolate ganache. The overall taste was however average.

Coffee here is quite good too, although the serving cup appeared to be significantly smaller than you get in usual cafe, and the price is relatively higher too.
