Super Seafood Platter for RM 666 for 10 pax @ Aroi Mak Thai Food Restaurant 中泰海鲜料理

One of the biggest Thai restaurant in Penang, Aroi Mak Thai Food Restaurant 中泰海鲜料理 in Northam Road (opposite Vouk Hotel) has underwent a major transformation recently. With a new management helming the restaurant, they have hired a new chef hailed from Thailand and launched a super saving menu - Super Seafood Platter (牛逼海鲜拼盘) that can feed up to 10 pax for just RM666. On top of that, white rice, tea and fruits given on complimentary basis along with the Super Seafood Platter. However, you need to call and make reservation one day in advance to enjoy such superb value platter. 

Well, let's have a look what is inside the Super Seafood Platter:

• Thai Style Crayfish - 1kg
• Golden Crabs (3 pieces) - 1.2kg
• Steamed Brown-Marbled Grouper - 1kg
• Thai style Asam Prawns (18 pieces/middle small or 8 pieces/big)
• Thai style yam seafood
• Thai style dry curry cuttlefish
• Tomyam kappa + razor clams
• Thai style steamed scallops (12 pieces)
• Boiled octopus + Thai style green chili curry

Personally, we enjoyed the freshness of the steamed Brown Marbled Grouper. It is well drenched with supreme soy sauce to complement the lightness of the Brown Marbled Grouper flesh. This dish would have easily cost a bomb out there in usual restaurants.

There were so much mini lobsters (crayfish) in the pot cooked with Kam Heong style that we struggled to finish even. The kam heong imparts an aromatic flavour to the plain crayfish, rendering a mild spiciness with a sleek finishing. As for the Tomyam soup, we like the approach of having clams and bamboo clams in the soup, giving an unique sweet profile in the mid of spiciness and acidity from the tomyam. It is notable the clams and bamboo clams are free from any faulty or muddy smell.

If you are a fan of squids and octopus, you will be thrilled to find there are 3 dishes featuring squids and octopus here, namely Thai style pickled seafood (the appetizer), Thai style dried curry squid and boiled octopus with green chili curry. It has been long we never had boiled octopus, and the accompanying green chili curry is an acquired taste. Made from mixture of fiery bird eye chili and some other chilies, it offers a pungent acidity taste that wakes you up from any sleepiness.

At the same time, Aroi Mak Thai Food Restaurant also launched authentic Thai milk tea and Thai green tea. These drinks are refreshing and able to quench your thirst immediately.
