Full Xiang Spicy Hotpot 福相麻辣香锅 in Queensbay Mall is a relatively new Sichuan style hotpot franchised from Taiwan. The concept here is simple - just pick your ingredients from more than 40 different selections (RM 3.80/100gm - vegetables; RM 5.80/100mg - non vegetables) by putting them at designated basket, then select your desired spiciness level (from Level 1 to Level 7). On top of that, you can have white rice or herbal soup at additional cost. Overall, the taste of the dry hotspot was mediocre and monotonous too enjoy, though the heat component deserves a compliment. Aside of that, one of the service crew here was rather odd in his attitude and cause some confusion and discomfort since the moment we stepped in.

Though there were plenty of ingredients available for selections, it did not ran from the conventional fares such as seafood balls, sausages and etc. The more striking options would be pork slices, or ham which has a relatively premium price tags. On top of that, it is noted that only green leaves are priced at RM 3.80/100mg, where as other options such as fried you tiao, beancurds skin, mushrooms balls and etc are priced at RM 5.80/100mg, resulting an overall higher price tag of the hotpot if compared with other outlets.

Well, the overall flavour was within expectations but did not manage to register a deep impression.  It lacks a subtle fragrance - some sort of pleasant oily taste and unique peanut scent that will make the hotpot stand out. However if you are someone who enjoys spicy food, then this is the place to go. You can pick your desired spiciness level ranging from 1 to 7, and we started to feel the heat for level 3 spiciness.

In conclusion, if you fancy on having a hotpot then this might be one of the option available in Penang. With so many restaurants offering hotpot nowadays, there ought to be efforts needed to impress customers a step further.
