Bibis Fashion & Cafe @ Jalan Kelawai, Penang

Bibis Fashion & Cafe has been existing for some time along the bustling Kelawei road and directly opposite of Gurney Paragon Mall. As the name implies, the cafe is connected and share the same owner with the neighbouring fashion store. Bibis Fashion & Cafe existence for years despite the mushrooming of cafes in Penang certainly has something to do with its quality food. During our short visit here, we can observe that many of the customers here are regulars as the lady owner greets them the moment they stepped into this petite cafe. Although the seating may be limited at Bibis Fashion & cafe, the quality food served here definitely worth the visit.

Bibis Burger (RM 22) is one of the item in menu that keeps me coming back. Every component of the burger is well executed, from the English muffin buns, homemade party and a well poached sunny side-up. Although at first glance, the burger may looks unappetizing as it only occupies less than a quarter of the plate but the taste speaks otherwise. The English muffin is baked to crisp perfection, while the homemade patty is succulent and well seasoned. Meanwhile, the sunny side-up is poached to perfection that the runny egg yolks oozes with a gentle probe, then it coats the burger with a rich and nice taste. Of course, the mayonnaise and other sauces perfected the burger in overall.

Recently, the cafe launched a series of new menu featuring healthy fitness item. We tried out their Signature Sambal Hae Bee Quinoa Fried Rice and Egg with a Choice of Prawn (RM 25) and of course were impressed. The quinoa has nice texture, well seasoned, and the sambal hae bee infuses some small crunchy bites with an aromatic scent. Nevertheless, the sambal hae bee imparts a tad strong of salty sensation to the overall mouth-feel that took us some time to get accustomize to it. Nevertheless, it is still a great dish that will make me return for another visit.

The cafe also features some main courses such as London Style Barramundi Fish & Chip, Smoked Duck Breast with Foie Gras, Australia Lamb Shoulder Rack, Spanish Iberico Pork and a range of spaghetti. Do try them out as we are sure it won't be disappointing.
