Top Grade Steamboat Restaurant 尚品猪肚鸡火锅 @ Jelutong, Penang

Top Grade Steamboat Restaurant 尚品猪肚鸡火锅 is a great steamboat located in an unassuming place in Bukit Dumbar Jelutong, sharing the same building with Atta Hotel. The steamboat restaurant specializes in serving Pork Tripe + Stew Chicken based soup, and undeniably they serve one of the best steamboat soup based we have tried thus far. Ipoh folks would have been familiar with this steamboat restaurant as they operate in Ipoh before branching out to Penang. While you may thought that you will sweat a lot when enjoying the steamboat, rest assured this will not be the case the restaurant is fully air-conditioned. Although the price may be slightly premium but your taste buds are pampared to maximum here.

There are few hot pot (soup) offered ranging from RM 58 - RM 188. While it might be tempting to splurge for the Shang Pin Pork Tripe Stew Chicken (RM 188), our friend recommended to go for the signature Matsutake Mushroom Pork Trip Stew Chicken (RM 88) instead. The Matsutake mushroom  is prized by many chefs. It contributed additional natural sweetness and a tad pine flavour to the depth of the soup, and the mushroom itself is delicious on its own too.

The soup itself has come with a generous quantity of pork tripe and chickens, along with Matsutake mushroom that are more than enough to cater for 5-6 person. Refill is allowed for the soup, so feel free to consume as much soup as you can take. 

Our friend, who organized the dinner as a birthday treat ordered a variety of side dishes that were proven too much later.

There are many great dishes you can try here. For meat, their homemade meat ball (RM 16) and moonlight box (RM 15) are highly recommended. We particularly enjoyed their moonlight box, as it comes with nicely minced meat with a hint of spice, then topped with egg to smoothen the texture. We also had their homemade fish ball (RM 12), homemade dumpling (RM 10) & Fuzhou Fish ball (RM 12). All of it tasted great. 

For some luxury treat, go for their Seafood Four Treasure (RM 78) that comes with Grouper slices, prawns, Hokkaido Scallop and Japanese Scallop. Only add those seafood elements at the end of your steamboat session, otherwise the essence of the seafood will tweak the soup flavour heavily.

To enjoy some shabu-shabu style steamboat, order Sakura Slice Por (RM 10) that comes with thinly sliced portion and dip it into the boiling soup. It is worthy mention the Pork Belly (RM 10) is exceptionally clean as well.

Overall, it was a nice steamboat we have to say and no wonder my friend has returned here for at least 3 times since its inception.
