The restaurant brand name ChinChin has been expanding fast in Penang market, and recently they have a new outlet - Quickie by ChinChin established in the basement of Gurney Plaza. Featuring heavy pink neon lights, the restaurant makes an offbeat spot for Instagram post. Rice bowls, sandwiches, noodles, and small eats are offered, allowing you to grab a quickie while hustling for your next appointments or embarking a shopping frenzy in Gurney Plaza.

Price is within affordable range here, though you can go for the premium set that fetch higher price tag for the likes such as salmon cuts. For us, we go moderate with a Crispy Chicken Rice Bowl (RM 18), a creative fusion between local claypot rice and Korean fried chicken. The overall flavour was alright with a generous seasoning of paprika (for the spicy version) but it could have been better if there was more moisture. Crispy chickens are aplenty too.
Then we had a Thai Pork Sandwich (RM 18), a seemingly fusion between Vietnamese and Thai culinary. We enjoyed the generous portion of succulent pork here, Do not underestimate the smaller portion of it as we felt full somehow upon finishing the sandwich.
Make it a complete meal by adding on RM 4 to have an iced lemon tea and a dessert of your choice.Â

What we thought really stand out here is their puff dessert.The thin and crisp skin hold a oozing filling, in this case was coffee as per our choice. It is akin a fusion of Chinese dim sum with Western style filling. To add on RM 4 on the main meal to enjoy this was a great deal indeed.
