I thought Adelphi & Co. is another trendy cafe in the town when hunting for food in Kota Kinabalu, only had myself to blame for assuming after walking in. Adelphi & Co. is a well established restaurants and has a range of wine labels to offer, with a menu that inspired by modern European and Asian fusion. I only managed to try a dish here as I was alone, but the impression embossed in both my mind and palate were great. Nevertheless, dining here does not come affordable but you will be be pleased at the taste offered to you.
I had Apple Glazed Salted Pork Belly (RM 38) and it was a meal with such great finesse shown. The pork belly is well seasoned and it was cooked to perfection. There is a desirable balance of fat to meat ration. Carrot puree was smooth and it paired perfectly with the chicken jus to elevate the taste of the pork belly by giving it a slight sweetness. Though the big poached vegetable on top of the pork belly is difficult to cut, but adding a fraction of vegetable to the pork belly gives it some crunchiness and reduced the surfeiting sensation arises the fatty content of the pork belly. Overall, a nicely executed dish.
Unfortunately the stomach was full upon having the Pork Belly and I was unable to continue to add on another dessert. Therefore, only have a cup of decent White Coffee (RM 12) to wash down the tongue.Â
Well, it is not fair for me to judge the restaurant with just one dish, and hope I have the opportunity to return again.
