French Onion Soup (RM 18)

Boiled using fresh tomatoes and coupled with a variety of herbs such as sweet basil, oregano, thymes then topped with chicken broth, the Roasted Tomato and Basil Soup (RM 16) tomato and basil soup emits elusive scent that soothe the taste buds. If you prefer something lighter that yields a more secretive sensation, pick Clams in Wine & Fresh Herb Broth (RM 18). The Sauvignon Blanc introduce a pleasant citric taste to the fresh clams procured on a daily basis, then had it taste spiced up with some cilantro, red chili and tomatoes. The taste of the plump clams still registered vividly in my mind till today.

The simple and masterpiece soup - French Onion Soup (RM 18) is a surprise find here. Only few restaurants offer this entree in Penang and it kind of reminiscent us the wonderful time we had in France. The soup is prepared using beef stock prepared for at least half day to give it a rich taste.

Cheddar Ranch (RM 28)

For mains, Smoked Duck Spaghetti (RM 25), Kimchi Salmon Spaghetti (RM 25), Creamy Chicken, and Cheddar Ranch (RM 28) are some of the signatures here.

Both types of spaghetti are well executed with al-dente spaghetti noodles and offer a different taste dimension. Conservatives would enjoy smoked duck spaghetti which is an advance variant of aglio-olio topped with aromatic smoked duck and shiitake mushrooms, while Kimchi Salmon Spaghetti offers a twist to the regular expectations. It is one of the popular choice by regulars at Gala House due to its unique combination of a pleasant tangy sensation from kimchi to the salmon spaghetti, making the dish more exciting as usual.

Burgers fans can go for Cheddar Ranch which comes with own made chicken patty and topped with shiitake mushrooms, spinach, smoked duck and seasoned with teriyaki sauce. We liked how the burger was executed - soft, spongy buns, perfectly rationed lean to fat meat that result a juicy patty, light cheese and an egg.

Crab Stuffed Seabass (RM 36)

The chef shared with us that another popular main is creamy chicken since Gala House inception. It gives a rich filling when coupling the fried chicken cutlet with the cream.

Another interesting dish we had during that night was Crab Stuffed Seabass (RM 36). The seabass had some real crab meat as filling, sitting on top of a bedding of mashed potatoes and topped with deep fried spinach. As you mix these few elements together, it gives a layering texture that combines crisp, rich and soft.

Creativity also being infused into Gala House drink selections. You shall not miss out the renowned Orang Kaya Coffee (RM 22) here, which is made of a concoction of Jack Daniel's, rich chocolate and coffee. The taste is unusually rich yet sleek to the taste. If you prefer a more chocolatey drink but surprisingly lighter in a taste, Dalmation 101 (RM 16.90) shall be your pick. Do not miss out these 2 drinks whenever you are here!
