Teow Chew Porridge @ Lebuh Cecil, Georgetown, Penang

Teow Chew Porridge is one of the comforting meal in Penang. It is served simple and plain, with a bowl of porridge only to be complemented with a variety of side dishes. Despite urbanization has been engulfing Penang city, there are still a few shops selling Teow Chew Porridge within the vicinity of Georgetown. One of them is a big space located just opposite Lebuh Cecil.

A variety of dishes are displayed on the long tables. Most are the common dishes we have in our daily live such as long beans, salted eggs, radish eggs, preserved vegetables, minced meats and etc that go well with porridge.

Depending on your preference, you may tailor make your bowl of porridge to have more or lesser porridge broth, or better known as "armp" in Hokkien. It possesses an unique fragrance that soothes your stomach, specially helpful after you have had a sinful yesternight.

If porridge is not your cup of tea, go for a bowl of rice instead.

The portion shown on above picture cost about RM 30 if we were not mistaken. Nowadays Teow Chew Porridge does not come cheap in fact.
