Nan Zeng has built a loyal following over the pass nine years. This humble stall may look simple but it has gained popularity among locals for its hearty bowls of fish head bee hoon, especially the much-loved Signature Three Combo and their tender fried fish.
Despite the constant flow of orders, the stall owner remains warm and welcoming, always greeting customers with a friendly smile. The New Dragon Pheonix kopitiam can get busy during peak hours, and parking around the area can be a little challenging. However, with a few rounds around the surrounding streets, you will usually be able to find a spot.
The heart of Nan Zeng's dishes lies in its slow-cooked broth, simmered for hours using fresh freid fish heads to extract a deep, naturally sweet flavour. Customer can choose between the original soup base or the Tom Yum version, each offering its own distinctive character. The stall also provides a variety of carbohydrate options to pair with the soup, including imported thin bee hoon, thick bee hoon, instant noodles, mee sua and even porridge.
For first-time visitors, the Signature Three Combo is the perfect choice as it lets you enjoy the best of three ingredients in one bowl, which are fried fish, fresh fish slices, and minced pork. The stall users fresh siakap fish daily, ensuring the fish remains tender and naturally sweet. The minced pork is well-seasoned and complements the seafood elements nicely.
One highlight we particularly enjoyed was the imported thin bee hoon, which has a pleasantly springy texture that absorbs the broth beautifully. The noodles pair wonderfully with the rich soup, and adding a little chilli padi gives the dish an extra kick that elevated the overall flavour.

If you prefer something with a tangy twist, the Tom Yum soup version is equally satisfying. Made using the stall's own recipe, the broth delivers a bold balance of sour, spicy and savoury notes. It pairs especially well with instant noodles and the Signature Three Combo, making the bowl even more indulgent.

Their fried fish has become such a crowd favourite that the stall eventually introduced a Fish and Chips menu. The dish features their signature crispy fried fish served with golden French fries, accompanied by a unique Tom Yum dipping sauce that adds a refreshing and spicy kick.
