It might not have been the most sensible decision to fly alone with a 4-year-old and a 1-year-old but I am so glad I chose Singapore Airlines for our trip to Japan in January 2025. The journey was special in many ways as it was my 1-year-old's very first flight, and we were heading to Japan to reunite with my husband, who was there on a work trip.
Like any mom traveling with little ones, I had countless "what if" scenarios running through my mind before the trip. Thankfully, Singapore Airlines' super helpful online customer service eased my worries. They patiently answered my questions and explained the services available.
When we arrived at Penang International Airport, the kindness started even before boarding. A Singapore Airlines staff member noticed I was flying solo with two young kids and immediately asked if I needed Special Assistance. They attached a special delivery tag to our stroller and provided Meet and Assist Service (MAAS) stickers for my elder daughter and me. With these stickers, we received attentive support throught the journey-during boarding, in-flight, and even at arrival and customs clearance.
Upon landing at Haneda International Airport, a local staff member was already waiting to greet us. While I struggled with my luggage and stroller, the assistant kindly helped push the stroller all the way to the exist, where we finally eunited with my husband. That made such a big difference after a long flight.
On top of that, the kids were delighted with the little Disney gifts provided by the airline that keeping them entertained and happy during the journey.
Thank you, Singapore Airlines, for turning what could have been a stressful solo flight into a seamless and reassuring expereince. Traveling with young kids will never be easy, but your thoughful service truly made it manageable and even enjoyable!
