Sarawak Kolo Mee and Laksa at TT Kopitiam, Tanjung Bungah Penang

Its becoming easier these days to find Kolo Mee in Penang but Sarawak Corner, tucked inside TT Kopitiam truly stands out. Not only does the stall serve authentic Kolo Mee, but it also offers beloved Sarawakian staples like Sarawak Laksa and Kompia, a rare find here in Penang.

Having spent 4 years living and studying in Kuching Sarawak, I am always on the lookout for the real deal in Penang and I can vouch for the authenticity of what is served here.

The Kolo Mee here offers in three variations where are original, black soy sauce and char siew sauce. Char Siew sauce is always my personal favourite, it gives the springy kolo noodle a nice char siew flavours, brings a glossy, slightly smokiness and sweetness touch to it, bleending beaitfully in taste and presentation.

The Sarawak Laksa here is the real hit for us, the soup was luxuriously rich and creampy, the dept of flavour reminded me of my time in Kuching. A squeeze of lime added a refreshing zing, just like how it is traditionally enjoyed.

The three layers milk tea is legit here too. I was thrilled to see Kompia on the menu, the savoury bun that I used to love from the Song Kheng Hai Food Centre in Kuching. Unfortunately, it wasn't available during my visit, along with the Foo Chow Red Wine Mee Sua. We will definitely come back for next time.

If you are craving a nostalgic taste of East Malaysia, Sarawak Corner at TT Kopitiam is well worth a visit when you in vicinity.
