It was a raining night at Cameron Highlands and we scrambled to find a steamboat place after arriving late from Kuantan due to the weather conditions. As we Googled on the options available, Cactus View Restaurant pop up and it was a mixture of good and bad reviews. Many reviews stated long queue caution to expect for long queue and poor parking condition, as Cactus View Restaurant was located near to Strawberry Farm. Well, we decided to go there eventually and were pleased with the overall dining experience, except on the parking where it was steep, hard to find a spot and the restaurant appeared to be archaic.Â
Cactus View Restaurant only offer charcoal steamboat and minimum order is 2 pax (RM 58 for 2 pax, and heard recently the price went up to RM 60 for 2 pax). Options to add on dishes and vegetables are available, such as Tang Oh for RM 7. However for meat choices, there is only an option to add on bacon stripes which is served along with the 2 person package and more than enough to cater the needs for everybody.Â
The charcoal steamboat is nice and the soup is naturally sweet with a nice charcoal scent. It was fun to barbecue to meat during the rainy night, while enjoying the variety of ingredients offered. Although we think the variety of the dishes could be more extensive to include options like cheese tofu, vegetables balls, pork balls or others, we are fine with the selections offered as we are not really a fan of these elements.
Overall, it was a pleasure dining here and the staff is friendly in assisting too. Nothing to lament on our last minute choice except for the location.Â
