Visitors to Saradise Kuching would not be unfamiliar with The Coffee Code. Occupying a strategic spot at corner lot, the cafe is a franchise cafe that has outlets throughout Sarawak, including Sibu and Bintulu. The Coffee Code does not really serve main dishes but focuses more on the food items serves during tea break such as pancakes, waffles, toasts and coffee, of course.
The picture of the Volcano Chocolate (RM 9.90), depicting it serves using a classic coffee cup with overflowing chocolate foam thrilled us. However, the taste offers otherwise. It was less intense than even Milo chocolate powder and the oozing foam merely serves for pictures purposes and did nothing significant on the taste. On the other hand, Dirty Code (RM 8.90) is alright with taste. It is like an espresso added with milk.
We ordered Cheezy Chicken (RM 16.90) to fill our stomach as there was no main dishes. It features bahn mi / baguette stuffed with chicken slices, cheese and egg. Clearly the food was prepared early and get heated using microwave, as the surface still feel lukewarm while the interior filling is hot. The taste was monotonous, and the overall texture was dry. Not something that I would look for during second visit.
Nevertheless, interior of The Coffee Code is cozy and suitable for gathering or enjoying a cup of coffee.
