Hoshino Coffee is founded in year 2011 and has over 50 years of history in coffee roasting back in Japan. They take prides on their hand drip coffee, their iconic Soufflé and Soufflé pancake, which then became their signatures.
In South East Asia, they have very strong presence in Singapore and just recently break through the market in Indonesia. While in Malaysia, Hoshino Coffee has expanded to 3 outlets in just 1 year time, with their flagship store which also Malaysia's first outlet at Midvalley, the second at Queensbay Mall Penang while the 3rd at Gurney Plaza Penang. Their western inspired Japanese dishes has since then receiving wide approval among the Malaysian.
In celebration of their 1st Anniversary, they have launched their limited time menu early December and will be running for 3 months only. The new rice and bread dishes have a strong emphasis on cheese usage, while the desserts are in reddish pinky strawberry theme that well describe the festive Christmas mood. Meanwhile, the liquor and starter menu only available for Gurney Plaza and Mid Valley outlets.

| Omu Rice & Mozarella Tomato Prawn with Salad (RM 23.90) |
Taking care into consideration that Hoshino Coffee is located in shopping mall and has a strong crowd of family, the cafe introduces Omu rice & Mozarella Tomato Prawn with Salad (RM 23.90), a Western inspired modern Japanese dish that is loved by people from all age group.
What makes the difference in the Omu rice here is the chef has added cheese to the omelette, then paired it with tomato cream sauce to create a wonderful marriage between these 2 elements. On top of that, tomato rice is being used instead, unleashing an aromatic flavor of tomato and cheese. A lot of fresh green is served on the side to counter the richness arise from the cheese. Indeed, it will be one of the dish that we are looking forward coming to Hoshino Coffee.

Another egg inspired dish that is being featured in the Hoshino Coffee 1st Anniversary Limited Menu is Fuwa Fuwa Fluffy Souffle Doria Rice (RM 23.90). This main dish combines the elements of desserts by having fluffly airy egg Souffle made from egg white enclosing the tomato rice. Overall combination is great, as the egg contributes the nice flavour to the tomato rice. Take note this baked dish take 20 minutes of preparation time.

For those who have a special affection toward Japanese curry, then do not miss out the newly launched Japanese Curry Chicken Cutlet Rice (RM 23.90). Well, it is textbook execution of a perfect Japanese curry, and the chef has added an onsen egg to further increase the richness of the curry. Well done!Â

Apart of 3 main dishes, Hoshino 1st Anniversary Limited Menu also has 2 selection of breads as option for wholesome bite during tea break hour. One of it is Double Cheese Toast (RM 14.50), featuring homemade pomodoro sauce, cheese, sausages and bacon with all spreaded on top of the toast and baked. Fun part of having the toast is you can enjoy the cheese pulling factor due to the usage of Mozzarella and Parmesan cheese.
Another bread is Teriyaki Chicken Sandwich (RM 14.50). It is more like a classic chicken sandwich by having tender teriyaki chicken chunk, but the chef gave it a twist by spreading a thin layer of wasabi. Fret not, even those despise wasabi still find the taste is pretty decent.Â

Hoshino Coffee introduces a strawberry focused dessert menu that set to whet the hearts of many ladies. First is Strawberry French Toast (RM 19.70), which has freshly baked pancake covered with whipped cream and topped with vanilla ice cream and strawberries, then glazed with strawberry sauce.
Another strawberry focused dessert is Pancake Souffle Style with Strawberry, which you could have it as single (RM 15.90) or double (RM 19.50). Personally, we kind of love this dessert. The pancake is soft and fluffy, while the strawberry added just nice some sweetness and sourness to the dessert. Apparently, Souffle pancake is always Hoshino Coffee's best selling dessert.
Those enjoy strawberry could opt for a healthy Strawberry Yogurt (RM 19.00), which is large in size and not sweet at all.
