Chicken Claypot House 鸡煲之家 @ Macalister Road, Georgetown, Penang

When the Chicken Claypot House from Singapore opened their first Malaysia's outlet in Penang, the concept of using claypot chicken as the base for steamboat is something new but it is quickly accepted here. Even after years of establishment, the restaurant still flushed with patrons and tourist. Another reason for their success could be due to their strategic location at the bustling Macalister Road as well. The steamboat ingredients are served in self service practice, nicely categorized with plate colours just like sushi king, and wrapped with plastic wrap for freshness. However, the price point is on the higher side.

We had their Signature Chicken Claypot steamboat, a big whole pot of chicken packed with shallots, and gingers. Besides the continuous heat supplied to the pot, the gingers had warmed us so much that we basically sweat like shower. The soup was rich and nicely seasoned, but it is much suitable for those prefer bolder flavours. However, their service was great by constantly dropping by to check and top up the soup. We wishes the chicken could be much meaty, but equal proportionate of the green versus the chicken is an added point.
