Penang is set to offer the gastronome here a delicate gourmet journey with the opening of PUTIEN, an One-Michelin Starred Restaurant in Gurney Paragon Mall. The name of Putien resonates with Putian, a beautiful coastal suburb of Fujian, China and it was the founder - Mr. Fong's affection and yearning for authentic Putian cuisine that led to the restaurant establishments with over 50 branches in Malaysia, Indonesia, Hong Kong, Singapore and China.

Serving Chinese-Fujian inspired dishes, PUTIEN operates based on their tagline "Fresh Ingredients, Original Taste" and it requires attention to fine details and the meticulous preparation by the chefs to bring out the original taste of each ingredients. Having said that, all the hard works by the restaurant have earned PUTIEN numerous awards, with the latest recognition is the One-Michelin Starred Restaurant status in the Michelin Guide Singapore 2016 & 2017 and Bib Gourmand Restaurant in Michelin Guide Hong Kong Macau 2016 & 2017.

In-depth knowledge on the ingredients from its cultivation to harvesting, transportation and preparation is the secret that gives PUTIEN dishes a distinctive and toothsome taste. For instance, seafood such as Yellow Croaker and abalone are specially flew from its original habitat after underwent stringent selection process, then precisely stewed with ginger for 100 seconds and served on its original state respectively to the diners.

On top of that, handcrafted products speaks of volume in the menu as a gesture to reflect Putian's uniqueness. This explains the slight crisp yet fluffy texture of the "Bian Rou" wrapper as it was made of pork meat paste pounded by hand for 3 hours by an adept chef who specializes on it solely. Besides, the noodles were made from hand-milled flour and sundried to ensure fine and silky noodles which retain an excellent firm texture despite being drenched in soup or after heat cooking, and the wonderfulness can be testified by the Fried Heng Hwa Bee Hoon and PUTIEN Lor Mee.

Testament of quality ingredients being used and meticulous preparation can be found within braised pig intestine. The long intestines have been cleaned thoroughly and then braised with 12 different spices on a mild flame, then layering each others for 9 times that will give you a springy texture with pleasant flavour.
