Durian Haven @ Queensbay Mall, Bayan Lepas, Penang

Ardent fans of durian would be delighted to hear Durian Haven, a shop that serves a variety of durian desserts has established a branch at Queensbay Mall (after Armenian Street branch) . This saves up the travelling hassle for Penangites residing in the southern part of Penang to enjoy this king of the fruits. Great news is that to ensure consistency, the shop only use D24 durians to produce all the desserts here. During our time of visit, there is a complimentary drink for every dessert purchased.

Remarks: Durian Haven no longer operates in Queensbay Mall but operates in Chew Jetty and Armenian Street.

We gave a shot to their Chocolate Brownie and the expectations were met with mixed feelings. The durian soft serve or gelato (which we could not differentiate) was well executed. Rich with durian flavor, smooth and no presence of ice crystals makes it a pleasure to have. However, the brownie was not up to par as it was icy cold, hard, and lacking the chocolate aroma. Given a choice, we would just have the durian soft serve / gelato.

Boasting over having 21 layer of thin crepe, the durian millie crepe cake immediately caught our attention. We agreed the crepe layers were nice but the durian flavor was slightly off. Perhaps the cream layer has rendered the durian way too greasy.

Two complimentary cakes for 2 purchase of desserts. We are free to choose any drink on the menu regardless the price. This is a cup of durian coffee made from instant coffee powder.
