One of the hottest workshop themed Korean eateries , Omaya Malaysia has finally landed their 5th outlet at Queensbay Mall, Penang! With Korean spiced chicken being their signature, cheese (Cheddar and Mozzarella) are most likely the key ingredients that yield ultimate satisfaction for most of the dishes, which is a rejoice news for the cheese aficionados. However no discrimination against seafood lovers because the lovely seafood platters are most likely to cause a splash among Penangites with daily local sourced fresh ingredients. Apart from all the exciting food, they do have aplenty of catchy and fun drinks but our favorite would the alcoholic drinks such as Honey Makgeolli.

The food presentation, taste and ambiance are great for either a group of friends or family. Just have fun with the food, take photos with the company of your friends. Fret not shall you come in two as they have partition to split the big tables to ensure privacy.

Shimson Stew (RM 84) is an expanded version of Army Stew at Omaya. It has additional spicy stir-fried Toppoki chicken with cheese melting for dipping. Upon savouring the cheesey noodles with ham, sausages and etc, the server will come and help to fried a portion of Korean cheesy fried rice for the continuous enjoyment. Kimchi and lettuce are served complimentary to the table using a toolbox, much to patrons' amusement.

When the fried rice is ready, wait for 2 minutes to let the cheese set so you may perform the stun of pulling the fried rice along with cheese. Of course, it does not only appease aesthetically but the taste is equally awesome as well.

Another popular dish at Omaya would be their 10oz Pork Chop Cheese Dakgalbi (RM 82.00), or better known as Lee Kwang-Soo Cheese Dakgalbi for easier memorization. It offers a pool of meat with surrounding melted cheese (upon cooked), much appealing to patrons whom prefer a more carnivorous diet.

Both cheese dakgalbi and Shimson Stew are best enjoyed between 3-4 person, though big eaters of 2 might be able to finish the pot. For a smaller group of 2, Army Stew would be a better choice for enjoyment without getting your tummy overburden.

Seafood lovers shall be prepared with the excitement of Busan Giant Seafood Platter (RM 148.00) which feature a range of locally sourced fresh seafood such as mussels, prawns, crabs, squids and clams. As the soup boils and become more saturated, the scent grows stronger and become more appetizing when it was originally served. The seafood platter will be served with a portion of Udon complimentary.

Those who wish to enjoy the Busan Giant Seafood Platter should be booked 1 day earlier as Omaya restaurant will prepare the platter accordingly to the number of bookings.

If stew seafood ain't your cup of tea, go for the record breaking 1200mm Korean BBQ Skewer (RM 138). The portion served is more than enough to cater for at least 3 persons and Omaya crew will fry the seafood for your savoury. It is served complimentary with dipping sauce, kimchi, lettuce and grilled egg.

For smaller portion of cheese enjoyments, patrons may opt for Pork Rib Cheesy Toppoki Stew (RM 75), Honey Mustard Boneless Chicken Cubes (RM 30) served with French Fries or Deep-fried Squid Cheese Toppoki Stew (RM 58). We had the privilege to try the pork rib, which is nicely presented with well cleaned ribs, alongside with tender and juicy meat for savoury. Meanwhile, the boneless chicken cubes are soft and honey mustard cleverly elevated the dish.

Of course, the cheese coating provide further excitement to all the dishes. Who doesn't love cheese then?

Omaya Malaysia does feature a range of interesting drinks. We particularly enjoyed the Honey Makgeolli (RM 36.90) that has a sweet ending and the Orange Passionfruit Yogurt (RM 9.90) that gives a very refreshing taste after such a hefty meal with all cheeses.

Orange Passionfruit Yogurt is very Instagrammable with its fluffy cotton candy sitting on top of the drink when served. The cotton candy and the drinks are meant to be eaten separately, however feel free to add the cotton candy to the drink to sweeten it.
