The cafe culture in Penang has just taken a new height with the introduction of 15 Grams Coffee Bar at the new commercial lot, Mahsuri Promenade at Bayan Lepas. As a matter of fact, the signboard of the cafe is not obvious because they are located within, or attached to a hair saloon - Room 18 Hair Saloon.

Thus, this has sowed a new trend in saloon industry in fact, by integrating a saloon with a cafe. While waiting for your partners or friends doing the hair treatment at Room 18 Hair Saloon, you may leverage this opportunity to get a cup of coffee and savour some desserts at the attached 15 Grams Coffee Bar.

Let us get the facts up front. The cafe is not big in size, probably can fit about 15-20 people at one go but it is definitely one of the most Instagramable cafe around. The long tables facing the windows serve as one of the best spot to take some shots. Besides, currently the menu is still undergoing refinement and there are no main courses being served, only drinks and desserts.

We had a piece of Lemon Sponge Cake (RM 8.00) and a cup of filter coffee (RM 15.00). We liked the lemon sponged cake with a nice tangy sensation, contributed by the lemon juices used and shreds from lemon zest. There are other cakes such as chocolate lava and brownies but unfortunately they were sold out in the afternoon.

The filter coffee were decently brewed as well, and we liked they served it along with a cup of ice, let you choose whether you like to have it cold or hot.

As August is the first month of operation, every cup of coffee comes complimentary with a piece of "Ma Lai Gou" plus 10% discount.

Other than the conventional coffees and juices, 15 Grams Coffee Bar serves proudly one of the interesting soda drinks - Berry Go Round (RM 10.00). It is specially chilling and refreshing, with cubes of fruits and a mint leave gave it an extra nice flavour.
