Pony Tale de cafe @ sPice Canopy, Penang

Pony Tale de Cafe has rebranded to Pony Tale De Café Wesman

One of the pioneer restaurant in SPice Canopy - Pony Tale de Cafe still standing strong today, despite several restaurants within the vicinity had changed ownership. Being a 2 storey restaurant that served a variety of Western and fusion dishes, coupled with unique decoration for a comfy dining date, Pony Tale de Cafe is a decent place for a relaxing lunch or dinner appointment. They offered an extensive range of menu, and the price is relatively competitive compared to the surroundings markets.

On top of the ala carte menu, the restaurant also offer the the food in set which comes with a bowl of mushroom soup and a piece of pancake. Considered it a good deal, we ordered Mexican Fruit Curry & Spice Chicken Squid Ink Pasta (RM 25.80), partly intrigued by its long and interesting name.

While we thought the entire pasta would be in the typical black squid ink colour, we were somehow glad the curry provide some xanthous coloring to. Otherwise an entire plate of nigrescent meal does not look appealing. The spaghetti noodles were cooked al-dente and matched well with the elusive taste curry, probably this was our first times encounter on Mexican fruit curry. Nevertheless, we could not get much hint on the squid ink as claimed on its name.

One thing we really enjoyed was the huge piece of perfectly grilled chicken. The poultry was succulent, had charred on the right proportion and place.

The accompanying mushroom soup and small pancake for the set. Both tasted great.

Next we had a pancake named Dog On the Pan (RM 22.80), again fascinated by its peculiar name as this the name "dog" never appeared in any other dishes other than hotdogs. Nevertheless, the dish actually turned out to be some hotdog related pancakes. The hotdogs were sliced and embedeed within the pancakes, and surprisingly emits good taste. Match the butter and syrup with the pancakes to grease and sweeten it for a different sensation.

The drink - Moo On the Rocks (RM 18.80) which is a fruity based milk serve with sleek Espresso cubes was mediocre despite its seemingly eminence name. It tasted smooth and the surprise were the cubes of non-melting Espresso cubes even till the end.

Actually, the environment of the cafe is cozy and comfy, well suitable for a laid back evening. We can observe the owner really invested a lot of efforts into decorations.
