Located at the prominent area - Clarke Quay, the shop tends to be fully seated at peak hours, frequented by locals and also tourists. During our one times visit, we witnessed a few Singaporeans were here alone for dinner, probably an illustration on the scrumptious meal here. The restaurant runs a systematic approach on handling the full house condition, putting up the expected waiting time on a small signboard just outside the restaurant. Menu were given to us during waiting outside to facilitate the ordering process.

After being led to your respective seat and place the order, you will get your food within minutes. They should be named as Song Fa Express Bak Kut Teh instead. Despite the fast service, the quality of the food still well maintained.

A variety of soups were available and we picked Pork Ribs Soup ($7) , simple because I did not take pig liver or pig intestines. Three pieces of big pork ribs with tender meats were partially immersed in a peppery and clear broth. The meats were tender and easily teared off from the bones.

Coming from the northern side of Malaysia, I was exposed to herbal bak kut teh only and kindly caught off in surprise by the peppery soup. I was able to accept it initially but somehow fall in love with it. The piping hot mild peppery soup was an enjoyment when sipped. Soup refill is provided free of charge by just waving your hands to the servers.

Dough Fritters ($2.20) and Kailan ($6.00) had to be ordered separately.

Unlike Malaysian's cultures whereby the rice is included in the set, the white rice here had to be order separately and cost $0.8 per bowl. I could not remember there was an option to go for oily rice. For our own enjoyment, we put some dark soy sauce to the plain white rice to give it a kick.

For a dollar to dollar comparison, I think the price at Song Fa Bak Kut Teh was affordable. Within $10 (assuming we did not order any sides), we got to enjoy satisfy dinner with a bowl of flavorful full and two bowls of rice.
