How about a delicious yet lesser known nasi kandar for supper tonight? On a hungry Friday night, we randomly found this eatery along Jalan Dato Keramat. We were absolutely delighted with this surprise find, as the nasi kandar here totally satiate our cravings.
Bearing no shop name at all, the nasi kandar operates from a makeshift stall across the police station headquarter at Jalan Dato Keramat. The food operation utilized the empty space in front of the shop lots, and co-share with a Malay hawker.
As the clock was late, and partly due to our past predicament with Nasi Kandar selling price, we picked 2 dishes only - a huge piece of fried chicken and telur dadar bawang. Â Our prevision turned out to be partially true because we were charged RM 9.00 for this plate of Nasi Kandar. Nevertheless, we felt the price was justifiable, as we got a quarters of fried chicken leg!
Speaking deep from our heart, the RM 6 paid to this fried chicken was well worth the price. It was fried to crisp, possessing little oil only, and the meat was succulent tender in large quantity as well. The fried chicken portion was equivalent to a KFC snack plate portion actually.
By all means, the key scoring points of a plate of mouthwatering Nasi Kandar still lies within the gravies. The gravies here are decent, with average hot burning sensation and mild sweet after great mixture work by the server.
If Nasi Kandar ain't your top preference, the neighboring Malay (Aman Tomyam) stall remained a good option. Some time ago, we started to love Nasi Goreng Chili Padi (RM 5.00). The one here tasted decent with big chili slices embedded within, giving you a surprise hot with every bite of it. Another thing we liked about the fried rice was the taste mostly derived from turmeric but not dark soy sauce.
