Mexican Food @ Hot Street Wagoon (Food Truck), Relau

As the cost of starting a new food business might have soared up in this economy recession period, food startups have fine-tune themselves, capitalizing food trucks in the initial stage of the business. A few success stories have been recorded, notably Coffee Rescue, CAKE Time and some others.

Few days ago, we drove through Petronas Sungai Ara and noticed a dim of light there. Our undaunted food curiosity pushed us closer there, and we saw a few Malay seemingly cooking on a truck. Thus, we decided to back here few days later for a supper treat.

It turned out to be a food truck selling Mexican food, to our surprise. The menu is straight forward, offering a few local delicacies and Mexican food, which our past encounters were limited to the scenes in Hollywood big films. Puzzled by choices available, we simply picked Crispy Wagoon (RM 8.00) after introduction by the owner.

Crispy Wagoon actually is a burrito, consisting of a large wheat tortilla with fried crispy chicken slices filling and lettuce wrapped in a closed end cylinder. Actually, the taste delivering factor of this snack derived from the combination of sauce used - BBQ, black pepper, teriyaki and chilli sauce, giving arise to a complex, elusive yet detectable taste. There is a slight hot burning sensation with every bite of it, yielding the maximum pleasure of richness of taste.

We would say the serving size is rather small, probably could not even give you the full sensation on a hungry night. However, noting on the amount of calories yielded from the sauce, probably one piece of Crispy Wagoon is enough for the late night.

On the other hand, Burrito Chicken (RM 7.50) is essentially the same with Crispy Wagoon, except the filling is substituted with pan fried chicken slices. You may pick the combination of sauce you like depending on your preference.

If you have been noticing, they actually use aluminium foil as wrapper for the snacks instead of any regular paper wrap, trapping and preserving the warmness of the food till the moment you reach your home.

Qussadilla (RM 9.50), or the real pronunciation Quesadilla is actually similar with Burritos but cheese are added in the preparation process, resulted a much richer and pleasant oily taste. The fillings then sandwiched between two pieces of tortilla, unlike Burritos which are wrapped within and thicker in nature. Taste wise, definitely the addition of cheese have spelled out the better taste of it! Who does not like cheese, right?
