Most of the Chinese loves to go southern part of Penang Mainland - Tambun for a seafood feast, some may not aware that northern part of Penang Mainland - Sungai Dua and Bagan Ajam has some great seafood eatery as well. Restoran Aur Gading, a Malay eatery at Sungai Dua to serve awesome seafood in a slight different manners, which you get to pick your seafood and have it cooked with the way you like, let it be noodles soup, fried rice or any other methods.
I had Mee Udang for my lunch as the locals recommended me this dish, and it was indeed toothsome. The chef prepares the noodles individually after you placing the order, and the noodles will be served piping hot. The tomato broth has a very sweet, rich and elusive seafood taste, resulted from the infusion of the big prawns essence. Despite the prawn essence had infused into the soup, the prawn itself still tasted very fresh, and I regretted for only picking 2 prawns.Â
A bowl of prawn noodles with 2 big prawns cost me RM 13.50, which could be deemed costly but it is definitely worth to enjoy such sumptuous meal once in a while.Â

Upon walking into the restaurant, the staff will greet you and help you to place an order. You can pick the seafood of your choice - prawns, crabs, fishes, squids, clams or etc, then have them to prepare it according to your choices. If you were someone who like me who is lazy to do the picking job, you can ask the staff to pick on behalf of you. Fret not, they will pick some fine seafood for you.Â
Calculations of the price is by the weight of the seafood.
To come here, take North-South Ekspressway and exit via Sungai Dua. Turn right into Sungai Dua if you are coming from Penang Island (turn left if you are coming from Sungai Petani), then follow the main road for approximately 3km till you reach see a bridge. Do not take the bridge, but turn left into the alley which will lead you to Restoran Aur Gading (follow the red arrow in below picture)
