Nasi Dalca Rahim @ Queen Street, Penang

One of the best Nasi Dalca in Penang has to be the Rahim, located just opposite Malaysia's oldest Hindu Temple named Sri Mahamariamman. Too bad the temple is still in renovation thus we missed the beautiful view during our dine in. Since year 1948, Rahim used to sell only drinks while his partner selling Nasi Dalca. Later on, he took over the Nasi Dalca business and serve the neighborhood until now. With just 2 make shift trucks, tables arranged at the side of the road, patrons never stop dropping by dining their scrumptious meal.

It is called nasi dalca because the white rice was cooked with dal so that the fragrance of dal fully absorbed into the rice. Mutton and chicken are the two option of meats available here. I opted for Chicken, but fried style instead of spicy curry. When I was asked whether I prefer drumstick or chest, he picked up the whole leg drumstick showed me. My eyes widen and immediate nodded my head. Poached egg and cucumbers are the only 2 side dishes available for pick. By having the rice glazed with kuah banjir making the rice tangy delicious. Their signature chutney(made from coconut and spices) may not be well accepted by many, however we thought it added robust flavor to the rice.
