Yee Sung Kai Chok Porridge 日本横街鱼生鸡粥 @ Lebuh Cintra, Penang

My head was spinning what to take for dinner after a sinful lunch at Wai Kee Char Siew Rice, as we prefer to have something milder in calories and less sinful as well. Hence, we walked around Lebuh Cintra and spotted this standing alone stall selling Yee Sung Kai Chok aka fish or chicken porridge at Sin Sun Vood coffee shop.

We are only able to order different types of porridges here then - chicken porridge (RM6.00) and fish porridge (RM7.00). The porridge was silky smooth but the rice granules still vividly tasted, with either slices of chicken and fishes added. The granules was a blend between teow chew porridge style and congee type, perhaps I would say it was Cantonese style porridge? Ah well, put aside the question, the porridge tasted good though.

The fine ginger slices added also imparted some extra spiciness scent into the porridge, making the porridge tasted less dull or plain. Feel free to tune the taste of the porridge by adding some pepper or soy sauce provided in bottles.

Poached chicken (RM7.00) was tender and smooth, and the sesame oil nicely enhanced the taste.
